| Divine Productions held its Chicago Pop Music Showcase, featuring IBU, The Valley Downs, and Bless Peterson. Due to bad driving directions from maps.yahoo.com, I was an hour late for the concert and missed most of The Valley Downs. (I've heard good things about Rrand McNally. I'm going to be using them for driving directions from now on.) I was able to hear part of the last song they played. It sounded like a high energy rock'n' beat, I'd definitely like to hear more of their stuff. IBU came up next after a short intermission. For such a young group of guys, these fellas can really sing. They featured tender ballads, along with quick witted rap lyrics. Between the three members, they have a great tonal range. There were some problems with microphone feedback when they first took the stage, but those problems were quickly resolved, and IBU proceeded to rock the house. From the sounds of screaming girls coming from the back of the auditorium, this could be the sign of how well their latest single does on the charts. With the evening winding down, the headlining Bless Peterson was not going to let you sit still in your seats. Bless has a way of capturing your attention with her angelic voice, then taking you along for a dynamic ride filled with a throaty rendition of "Respect" and bringing you home with tender personally written ballads. Sitting in with Bless was a saxophonist that will be featured in an upcoming jazz concert. He can really blow that horn. I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for Divine Productions' next concert promotions featuring this guy. Sorry for not getting the names of all the members in IBU and Bless' band. I hope you like the slideshow I put together. If you want to see the pictures larger, here's a larger slideshow. Check out Divine Productions for their next concert. Charles Mortel |
