Charlie started taking pictures while attending the Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, enrolled in their Architecture program. Primarily taking pictures of scaled model buildings, he was introduced to shooting slide and B\W film. After pursuing a graphic design career path, he was able to work on product photography projects, furthering his knowledge in photography.

The subject matters for his images varies widely. They are usually inanimate objects photographed in their natural state. At times, abstract images are created using a person as the subject matter. An underlying theme with many of the images, is an attempt to express the general aura between the composition and the photographer.

On photo shoots, Charlie uses a 35mm Nikon F2. Most the photographs are printed using the full negative. Soon he will be printing his images digitally using an Iris printer. This will allow him to more easily customise prints to his specification. The prints will still be archival quality.
