| The Philippine Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago was founded as a not-for-profit dance company on April 2002 and is composed of young dancers from metropolitan Chicago. As an independent dance company, PFDCC characterizes itself as an organization helping to promote awareness of the very rich Philippine dance traditions.
PFDCC has presented two full Repertories in Spring and Fall 2003 – Pasimula in May at Harold Washington Auditorium in Chicago and Mahalaga in November at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. Both performances were well attended and received. Industry and participated in the opening ceremonies of the Wild Reef Exhibit (Philippine Coral Reef Exhibit) at Chicago’s John G. Shedd Aquarium during Family Nights. PFDCC enjoys having the reputation of being a support organization which helps and believes in the joie de vivre of youth. The dance company enhances the dancers’ skills and help in developing their potential to the fullest in a positive, caring and nurturing environment. In turn, dance company members become dependable citizens appreciating a healthy lifestyle and taking pride in their Filipino birthright and heritage. | These costumes are all hand made, with great attention to color and detail. The pictures were taken at their Ballroom facilities at 7115 W. Grand. Thank you everyone for being so patient when it came to the meticulous posing.
